Cookbooks

Enjoy a taste of North Carolina with a bed and breakfast cookbook from our Asheville B&B.

When I was 24 and living in Paris, I had a carrot cake recipe of which I was very proud. For some reason I decided that this recipe should be my “secret” and I steadfastly refused to share it with anyone. And, sure enough, when we moved to Hong Kong, the small folder with my personal recipes in it was lost. As I had not shared the recipe with anyone it was lost for good.

Recipes are meant to be shared. When we prepare a meal from a recipe given to us by a friend, we remember them and the meal they shared with us. And when we pass that recipe on to another we pass on new memories and share our love with others. When you travel to our bed and breakfast inn in Asheville, we hope that preparing our recipes for you will create fond memories for you to savor.

These cookbooks are compilations of recipes collected from myself, my family and friends in the first case; and from my fellow innkeepers in the Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association in the second. They are recipes that are used regularly and have proven their value over time. Truly recipes worth sharing. Want to try one now? Check out some of Carolina B&B’s favorite recipes.

I’m thrilled with the cookbook!! We had a few friends over to celebrate the 4th and I decided to make a berry pie, since berries are in season right now. I’d never made one before so had to find a recipe, and first looked through your cookbook. I was thrilled that it did indeed have a berry pie recipe, was even happier that it was such a simple recipe – berries are so easy to prep, no peeling needed. It was by far the ABSOLUTE BEST PIE I’ve ever made, our friends are still raving about it! Thanks so much – I can’t wait to try more recipes. Bob requested the peach soup, that will make a nice, refreshing supper one night this week. Cynthia–Cinncinati OH

Our Guests Say...

Our room, the Mockingbird room, was large enough for two people with lots of luggage, and the bathroom was perfectly sized and extremely clean.

A Note from Your Host…

Happy 2017!

Everyone here at the Carolina Bed & Breakfast wishes you a year of prosperity and happiness. Last year was not without its challenges for Asheville and Western North Carolina but the smoke from the forest fires has cleared and the town continues to welcome everyone in a spirit of tolerance and acceptance.  We hope that you will consider visiting us and letting us share our town with you.

Asheville in the winter offers quiet streets and stores, fewer crowds at the Biltmore and nearby winter sports including skiing.

Asheville in the spring starts in late February or early March with snowdrops and crocuses, swiftly followed by gardens filled with daffodils and flowering trees.

Asheville in summer is a non-stop adventure with something new on every street corner, river rafting, mountain hikes, festivals and music abound.

Asheville autumn is a glorious display of colorful trees with warm days and cool nights to enjoy.

So come and visit us this year and let us show you our town! And until then, bring a touch of the Carolina Bed & Breakfast to your home with a purchase of my cookbook, Our Family Table: Recipes and Lessons From A Life Abroad.  It contains many of the recipes our guests enjoy and request at our inn as well as some easy recipes for small or larger groups.  You can order it on Amazon or by following the links on this page.
