Cookbooks

Enjoy a taste of North Carolina with a bed and breakfast cookbook from our Asheville B&B.

When I was 24 and living in Paris, I had a carrot cake recipe of which I was very proud. For some reason I decided that this recipe should be my “secret” and I steadfastly refused to share it with anyone. And, sure enough, when we moved to Hong Kong, the small folder with my personal recipes in it was lost. As I had not shared the recipe with anyone it was lost for good.

Recipes are meant to be shared. When we prepare a meal from a recipe given to us by a friend, we remember them and the meal they shared with us. And when we pass that recipe on to another we pass on new memories and share our love with others. When you travel to our bed and breakfast inn in Asheville, we hope that preparing our recipes for you will create fond memories for you to savor.

These two cookbooks are compilations of recipes collected from myself, my family and friends in the first case; and from my fellow innkeepers in the Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association in the second. They are recipes that are used regularly and have proven their value over time. Truly recipes worth sharing. Want to try one now? Check out some of Carolina B&B’s favorite recipes.

I’m thrilled with the cookbook!! We had a few friends over to celebrate the 4th and I decided to make a berry pie, since berries are in season right now. I’d never made one before so had to find a recipe, and first looked through your cookbook. I was thrilled that it did indeed have a berry pie recipe, was even happier that it was such a simple recipe – berries are so easy to prep, no peeling needed. It was by far the ABSOLUTE BEST PIE I’ve ever made, our friends are still raving about it! Thanks so much – I can’t wait to try more recipes. Bob requested the peach soup, that will make a nice, refreshing supper one night this week. Cynthia–Cinncinati OH

Our Guests Say...

Breakfasts were stunningly beautiful and sinfully delicious.

— Steve, Hillsborough, NC

Breakfast was different both mornings, but equally good. I loved that they always had nuts, cookies or chocolate available to satisfy any cravings.

— Harry, Atlanta, GA

A Note from Your Host…

January is almost gone (just like the snow which is melting fast).  Now is the time to think seriously about Valentine’s Day.  This year, due to some happy circumstances around dates, it’s not too late!  Yes, our rooms are booked for Friday and Saturday, February 12 & 13th.  But there is still availability for Sunday and Monday, February 14& 15th, with the added bonus that the 15th is Presidents Day, a holiday for many!  Get credit for celebrating the true Valentine’s Day (February 14th) and book an overnight stay at the Carolina.  We will be doing our best with hearts and flowers and special dishes all weekend long.  There are fireplaces in every room while many of our rooms have Jacuzzi or whirlpool bathtubs.  A hotel is okay for some things, but it takes a Bed & Breakfast to really achieve romance!  Call now 828-254-3608.

Looking forward, the Biltmore opens a special exhibit, Fashionable Romance: Wedding Gowns In Film, on February 12th. Gowns from films set in the years from 1645 to 1935 will be displayed in the rooms of the house along with the never-before exhibited wedding veil of Jacqueline Kennedy.  As visitors to last year’s Downton Abbey Exhibit discovered, the addition of mannequins and period costumes adds life and interest to the Biltmore rooms!  Winter Tickets are available from us for $45/person

The inn is open Weekend and Holidays only until Mid-March.  Please check our website for availability.
