>Carolina Bed & Breakfast: The Great Move In

Filed under: Carolina Bed and Breakfast, Re-decorating

Here’s the scene:

Date: Monday, November 16
Time 12 Noon
Location: Carolina Bed & Breakfast
Asheville, NC
Cast of Players:
2 Inn Owners
1 Assistant Innkeeper
6 Roofers
4 Moving Men
2 Mattress Delivery men
1 Fedex Delivery Truck with 8 carpets
1 UPS Truck
Put them all in play at the same time and you will have a picture of what our great move-in day turned into! It was pretty crazy for a while there and at the end of the day I had serious doubts as to whether we would get it all cleaned up and back together in time for guests to arrive Friday. One of the highlights of the move was watching the dolly one of the movers was using break, and a box of valuable and fragile items tumble off the ramp and roll down the road. Anyone who has ever moved can understand my reaction.
But we made it through the week, and, if I can figure how to put pictures on this blog, I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

This is just some of the mess, it’s actually the second day of the move.

I forgot to mention that we also had the front door taken off to get it re-done.

But amazingly enough we managed to get it finished and here are the rooms with new furniture and carpets:

We have changed the bed in the Robin’s Nest to a King Bed.

This is just beginning for the Carolina. As I am writing this, the house painter is outside painting some samples on the house and trim for the next stage in our remodel.
It’s been a week of hard work, but as we walk through the rooms we are beginning to see our imprint on the Inn and we are looking forward to the first of the guests checking in tonight and seeing their reaction.
