About the Inn…
The Carolina Bed & Breakfast, located at 177 Cumberland Avenue, Asheville, NC was built in 1901 and is in the Montford Historic District. Richard Sharp Smith, the Supervising Architect of the Biltmore Estate, designed the Carolina Bed & Breakfast, an Arts & Crafts Style house, using his preference for pebble-dash, shingles, high-pitched roofs and heavy stone foundations.
This beautiful Inn was family owned by the W. Vance Brown family until the Depression hit in the 1930s when it was sold to the George Webb family, who turned it into a boarding house. Their young son, David, who lived in the Cottage on the rear of the property, embarked on an illustrious career as a jewelry designer to the President and movie stars. David Webb jewelry has been worn by the rich and famous ranging from Jackie Kennedy-Onassis to Gwen Stefani. The home sold in 1983 and became the Carolina Bed & Breakfast. This lovely Inn has hosted many visitors to the Asheville area for 35+ years.
The Carolina Bed & Breakfast provides guests the ultimate in relaxation and comfort. It offers a lovely space for guests to enjoy and to lay their heads after a busy day exploring all the best that Asheville and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains area has to offer. The Carolina Bed & Breakfast location in Asheville is perfect in a beautiful historic neighborhood with downtown only a short walk away. Our sole purpose is to make our guests feel pampered, spoiled, and completely at home like a member of the family during their stay.
